TASER M26 and TASER X26 Course Outline

Class Description

OVERVIEW: This class will cover the techniques for proper deployment of and certification of users in the use of the TASER® brand less-lethal: TASER M26 and the TASER X26.

METHOD / MEDIA: This class will be taught by the lecture / demonstration method.

EVALUATION: Topics from this class will be evaluated via written tests and via performance checklist during the practical application conducted during the class.

Agenda

TERMINAL LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Given person(s) to be trained and a lesson plan, instruct person(s) in the proper deployment and safety of the TASER.

ENABLING LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Without the aid of references, in accordance with the detailed lesson plan and manual, a certified-trained user will accomplish the following:

  • Technology overview.  What is it and what does it do?
  • Electrical and medical background
  • Issue M26s and/or X26s to class for hands on use
  • Specifications, How does it work?
  • Practical hands-on training: Volunteer exposure, Changing batteries and air cartridges, Firing drills, Drive stun, Tactical considerations.
  • Probe removal considerations
  • X26 differences
  • Field applications. What can go wrong.
  • Safety considerations and associated risks.
  • The student will be able to explain how the TASER overrides the central nervous system.
  • Final Exam
